The programme, implemented at the obstetrics and gynaecology clinic on Jeleniogórska Street, is funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ).
Bolesławiec County:
Women can register for cervical screening if they have not had the test within the past three years. The test may be repeated after one year if risk factors are present, such as HIV or HPV infection, or if the patient is taking immunosuppressive medicines (to prevent rejection following organ transplants).
Cervical screening is free for every patient eligible for publicly funded healthcare services.
Women who have been treated for cervical cancer are included in screening cytology again after completing oncological follow-up (the decision is made by the doctor responsible for their cancer treatment).
It is important to remember that cervical cancer is not a genetically determined disease. Every woman, at any age, may be at risk of developing it.
A cervical screening test is an effective, painless and safe examination of cells collected from the cervix. It can detect precancerous and cancerous conditions of the cervix at a time when there are no symptoms.
Before the test, you must register at the obstetrics and gynaecology clinic, tel. 75 738 02 59, or at the general registration desk – tel. 75 738 01 32, 75 738 00 35.
