The incident took place during the night. Officers from the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica, while patrolling Wrocławska Street, wanted to stop a passenger vehicle for a traffic check.
Seeing the signals given by the officers, the man behind the wheel suddenly accelerated. The police began a chase.
During the escape, the driver, trying to lose the police, turned into a side street and continued driving through the estate’s streets. At one point, the pursued man stopped his vehicle and then ran out of it. It did little good: he was detained on Gwiezdna Street.
It turned out that the 32-year-old resident of Legnica was fleeing because he has a court-imposed ban on driving all motor vehicles, which remains in force until 2024. What is more, it emerged that the man was wanted by the prosecutor’s office.
The 32-year-old could now face up to five years in prison.
