The march was organized by the community of Primary School No. 2 together with the Bolesławiec branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees. The purpose of the Living Memory March of Siberian Deportees is to commemorate Poles who, over the centuries, were deported to Siberia, where they suffered and died from hunger, cold and hard labor.
Wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument “In tribute to the Polish Martyrs of Siberia and those murdered in Katyn and the gulags” in the municipal cemetery. The tragic fate of Poles was recalled on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Poland.
The Living Memory March of Siberian Deportees was held in Bolesławiec for the sixth time. The ceremony took place with the participation of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. It was attended by representatives of local governments, delegations from associations and institutions, and students and teachers.
