The festival will begin on 2 October and last for 3 days. During this time, several institutions in Bolesławiec will host meetings with top-class scientists, university lecturers, writers and artists.
The Lower Silesian Science Festival is a popular-science event organised by Wrocław’s higher-education institutions, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and non-university communities. It is addressed to everyone interested in science, culture, art and the fascinating phenomena of the world around us.
The coordinator of the DFN events in Bolesławiec is I Liceum Ogólnokształcące. Those wishing to take part in the events must register by 27 September by writing to dfn@lo.boleslawiec.pl. The detailed programme can be found HERE.
It is worth taking advantage of the presence of renowned scientists in Bolesławiec, who will present the latest discoveries in their fields during their lectures. These include “A Global and Local Look at New Viral Threats”, “The Great Significance of Zero – A Brief History of Mathematics from Its Beginnings to the Discovery of the Decimal System”, and “They Feed, Heal, Dress and... Poison – On Useful and Harmful Plants”. Meanwhile, the lecture “Sinner? Saint? Incomprehensible!” will offer an opportunity to examine representations of women in contemporary culture.
There will also be an opportunity to explore “Astronomy and Mechanics in 18th-Century Bolesławiec”. The organisers promise extraordinary intellectual experiences.
