The incident occurred on Saturday, August 31, at around 9:00 p.m., in Zgorzelec. The police duty officer received a report about a man stabbed on one of the city’s streets. Officers from the preventive and criminal divisions immediately went to the scene.
The emergency medical team took the injured man to hospital, while police officers began efforts to apprehend the perpetrator.
Officers established that a 36-year-old acquaintance approached two men sitting on a bench. An argument broke out, during which the 36-year-old stabbed the 51-year-old man with a knife and then fled.
The aggressor was arrested several minutes later and taken to police headquarters.
During the proceedings, it turned out that a 47-year-old wanted by the court was sitting on the bench with the victim. The latter is due to serve a prison sentence. He was also taken into police custody.
The 36-year-old was charged with attempted murder. At the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded the man in custody for three months.
The knife attacker could face life imprisonment.
