Despite being an hour late, for which the band apologized, and the forecast of rain, none of those waiting for the group gave up. Everyone wanted to see one of the more interesting bands on Poland’s music scene.
Zakopower did not disappoint anyone watching and listening. They played with the power of a föhn wind, as always. Excellent compositions and good lyricists are the band’s strengths; it has combined the folk music of Podhale with a modern rock sound. In addition to the band members, lyrics are written for them by Kayah (Zbuntowany anioł), Adam Nowak (Braku stan) and Rafał Bryndal (Ubiję, usiekę). Zakopower also do not shy away from singing poetic lyrics: by Grechuta (Dzikie wino) and Przerwa-Tetmajer (Wspomnienie).
Let us add that before the concert, nearby villages and towns presented their stalls and delicacies. Visitors could sample, among other things, roast pig, bread with homemade lard, and baked goods prepared by members of rural women’s circles.
