On the morning of 28 August, an attack on the owner of a currency exchange office took place in Gryfów Śląski. When the victim parked his car and was walking towards the exchange office, two men wearing balaclavas ran up to him and struck him on the head with a club. When the man lost his balance, they tore away his bag, which contained a considerable amount of money.
The men hurriedly left the scene in a silver Hyundai passenger car. The victim, a 64-year-old resident of Lubań, was taken to hospital by an ambulance crew for examination; his life is not in danger. Police patrols and a Gryfów municipal police patrol arrived at the scene. Roadblocks were also set up on roads leading out of Gryfów.
Police are currently carrying out operational and procedural activities at the scene and throughout the town. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Deputy Commander of the Police Station in Gryfów Śląski at 789 489 480. We especially appeal to drivers who have dashcams in their vehicles, were travelling in the morning near the market square and the car park on Plac Kościelny in Gryfów Śląski, and noticed a silver Hyundai speeding away, to secure and hand over the recording to police officers.
A few minutes ago, police managed to determine where the vehicle used by the perpetrators had been abandoned, but the perpetrators had already left in an unknown direction. As police have received information that the vehicle shown in the photograph may have been driving around Gryfów several days earlier, they appeal to anyone who saw who was travelling in the vehicle, and how many people there were, to provide this information and urgently contact the Deputy Commander at 789 489 480.
