Bolesławiec County will launch the largest number of connections of all the local governments in Lower Silesia that applied for subsidies. A total of just over 80 routes will receive funding, 25 of them in Bolesławiec County alone. This is an absolute success. The government subsidy for each kilometre travelled amounts to PLN 1. This is the maximum rate provided for by the programme. The routes will be operated by PKS, a county-owned company. Buses and minibuses will reach all municipalities in the county. The company is continuously hiring drivers and investing in its fleet.

Participation in the programme was conditional on local governments contributing to the costs of operating public transport. In addition to the county, the municipalities of Osiecznica, Bolesławiec, Warta Bolesławiecka and Gromadka declared their financial contribution. Special thanks are due to the mayors—Andrzej Dutkowski, Waldemar Nalazek, Mirosław Haniszewski and Dariusz Pawliszczy.

This is the first tranche of the government programme of subsidies for new bus routes. Timetables will be modified to carefully determine which locations PKS should serve more frequently—or less frequently—and at what times, in order to best meet residents’ needs.

Starosta Daniel Koko of Lwówek County also signed an agreement to operate the new connections.
