In the first round of the Regional Polish Cup, BKS Bolesławiec’s senior team defeated local side LKS in Mierzwin 3–0 (0–0). The goals for the Bolesławiec team were scored by: Oskar Pochwała, Łukasz Graczyk and Adrian Kulesza.
Wednesday’s cup match in Mierzwin began with BKS attacks. The visitors made several forays towards the home side’s goal, but they lacked a clinical finish. LKS also had an excellent chance to take the lead. During one attack and the ensuing scramble in the Bolesławiec penalty area, goalkeeper Jakub Walczak twice rescued his team from danger.
Neither team scored before the break. BKS tried to build attacks, but little came of them. The hosts defended effectively, so Sebastian Tylutki’s players tried to surprise the home goalkeeper with shots from outside the penalty area. They were unsuccessful before half-time.
After the break, BKS sped up the game, and this produced a goal. First, the referee awarded a foul on Łukasz Graczyk in Mierzwin’s penalty area. Oskar Pochwała took the spot kick to make it 1–0. The referee’s decision to award the penalty prompted protests from the home supporters, who claimed it was unjustified.
The second goal came after an indirect free kick awarded by the referee for a home player holding on to the ball. The incident took place near the end line. The LKS player, challenged by two BKS players, was trying to keep possession but did so illegally. Adrian Kulesza crossed into the penalty area, and Łukasz Graczyk headed in to make it 2–0.
Adrian Kulesza set the final score after receiving a pass from Jakub Kwoczka, following the ball’s deflection off the referee. Popularly known as Kaczor, he beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
The match was not much of a spectacle. Both teams made many inaccurate plays and lost possession frequently. Ultimately, however, BKS Bolesławiec will play in the second round of the cup competition.
