We invite everyone to join the fun on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (15, 16 and 17 August). As last year, we are waiting for those interested on Bankowa Street, by the pond. This year, part of the park space was decorated by the Bella Vida Decoration Studio from Legnica. Beautiful crepe-paper flowers decorate one of the avenues leading to the town, while colourful tubes hang among the trees: a three-dimensional decoration accentuating the second avenue.
During the first Glina Show parade in 2018, a powerful jug, over 4 metres tall, created by Waldemar Cieślak was presented. The jug symbolises Joppe’s work from 1753, an attraction of pre-war Bolesławiec considered the largest pot in the world.
The jug was made from recycled materials, including 440 bottles of mineral water. The artist wanted to draw attention to the importance of recycling in our lives. The artist’s family collected this many bottles by buying mineral water for a year.
“Plastic was unknown in Master Joppe’s time,” says Waldemar Cieślak, the creator of the recycled jug made especially for the Glina Show parade. “Today, as people responsible for the environment, we should consider what we can do with waste. Recycling makes waste valuable and, instead of ending up in a landfill, transforms it into raw materials for producing new materials. That was my first thought when I was building the jug for Glina Show,” the artist adds.
As part of the BOK–MCC Polish-German project “Clay Bridges”, visitors to the town will be able to work on a potter’s wheel, create their own outfit from ready-made elements with a stylist, take part in fire-walking workshops and watch a bodypainting demonstration by painters from Ceramika Artystyczna Spółdzielnia Rękodzieła Artystycznego.
