On Wednesday, July 24, from the early morning hours, officers from the SPEED group conducted speed checks on roads in Bolesławiec County. The result? Four driving licences were suspended from drivers who, in built-up areas—where the speed limit is 50 km/h—were travelling at over 100 km/h.
The first driver was stopped just after 6:00 a.m. in Godzieszów (K-94). The 28-year-old resident of Lwówek County was driving at 103 km/h. Half an hour later in Brzeźnik, a 23-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality was stopped while travelling at 106 km/h.
After 9:00 a.m. in Bolesławiec, officers detected a 22-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec Municipality driving at 111 km/h. The final offender was a 45-year-old resident of Zgorzelec, who also exceeded the speed limit in Bolesławiec by 53 km/h.
All the drivers lost their driving licences for three months and also received fines and penalty points.
Bolesławiec police officers:
We remind you that driving at high speed always poses a danger both to people travelling in the speeding vehicle and to other road users. Speed is, after all, a key factor affecting the risk of road accidents; it also has a decisive impact on the type and severity of injuries suffered by people involved in road incidents.
