In recent days, some ZUS customers have received emails titled “Contribution” containing information about incorrectly paid contributions. The correspondence was supposedly sent by the ZUS office. However, the address footer contains addresses with the “gov.pl” extension, which the Social Insurance Institution does not use. Each email includes an attachment allegedly containing information about incorrectly paid contributions.

Social Insurance Institution:

We remind you that we do not send our customers information about contribution settlements by email. Customers of the Institution do not receive any payment demands or information about overpayments via electronic correspondence. ZUS contacts customers electronically only if they have an account on the Electronic Services Platform portal and have chosen this form of contact. In such cases, however, the email always includes the first and last name of a specific ZUS employee.

What does ZUS advise?

  • never reply to emails supposedly sent by the Social Insurance Institution
  • do not open attachments included in the correspondence. (Such correspondence is most often intended to infect the computer or gain access to sensitive data stored in its memory)
  • if any customer has doubts about the sender of the correspondence they have received, please contact the nearest office of the Institution or the Telephone Customer Service Centre at: 22 560 16 00 or by email at cot@zus.pl.
