The association was established in February this year. “We do this out of passion, not for money,” says Piotr Tutak, an environmental protection graduate and head of the organization. “What encourages us to act is that more and more people are becoming interested in environmental issues,” he adds.

As Piotr emphasizes, Bolesławiec lacks genuine environmental education. We recently wrote that residents of Bolesławiec routinely dump waste in the forest. “People are unaware of many things. By throwing waste into the forest, sooner or later they will pay for it anyway,” explains the head of the Association.

Where does such thoughtlessness come from? In Piotr’s opinion, primarily from ignorance. Not all residents of Bolesławiec know what can be done with so-called electronic waste. That is why the organization wants to focus on education. Its plans include competitions, campaigns and trips that will help raise environmental awareness.

The association also intends to expand its cooperation with municipal companies and uniformed services. “We want to act as an intermediary between people and institutions and focus on prevention,” emphasizes the organization’s president. “To create an intervention and response mechanism so that residents of Bolesławiec are afraid to dump waste illegally. I think we are capable of creating such a program.

For now, the organization has five members. “They are all students, but we have not introduced any age restrictions. We are open to cooperation,” Piotr notes. “We want to operate like an efficient enterprise and persuade people to start taking action.

Why is caring for the cleanliness of the environment so important? “Nature came before us; we must protect it,” emphasizes the Association’s president. “No one else will do it for us,” he adds.
