On Sunday, May 31, a national examination for master-level ranks was held in Lublin. The examination board was chaired by Master Ung Kim Lan (8th dan). Thirty-nine people from across the country took the exam, including 16-year-old Krystian Marzec, this year’s Polish champion and a competitor representing Bolesławiecki Klub Taekwon-Do ITF.
The examination consisted of two parts: technical and theoretical. In the first, the taekwondo practitioners had to demonstrate their skills in, among other things, formal patterns, step sparring, self-defense techniques and—the most spectacular element—board breaking.
Twenty-six competitors earned master-level ranks. Krystian Marzec confirmed his excellent form by earning 1st dan in taekwon-do.
“After Krystian’s recent successes, this rank is fully deserved,” Marek Marzec, the young champion’s coach and, privately, his father, told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. “Thanks to earning 1st dan, my son has a chance of making the Polish junior national team,” he added.
The young man from Bolesławiec will be able to take the examination for the next master-level rank in a year and a half.
