New regulations concerning the zipper merge and forming emergency corridors are expected to come into force this autumn. As we read on the trans.info portal:
The Ministry of Infrastructure has also addressed another extremely important issue, namely the emergency corridor. Although Polish law contains a provision concerning facilitating the passage of ambulances, it does not impose an obligation on drivers to form a corridor for emergency services.
For now, it is not known how high the penalties will be for cheating on the road while emergency services are heading to an accident.
The matter was reported on their Facebook profile by volunteer firefighters from Czerna (Nowogrodziec municipality), who are co-initiators of the Emergency Corridor – Think Ahead campaign, which we have written about repeatedly. The firefighters from Czerna wrote:
And it happened—we’ve got it! [...] I guess we contributed to something ;).
