In March 2009, we wrote that the County had submitted an application for funding to renovate Karola Miarki and Żwirki i Wigury Streets. It is now known that the local government will receive over PLN 4 million from the Regional Operational Programme for this purpose. The renovation of both streets was one of the topics of a press conference held on Thursday, 28 May, at the county office.
“This will be a major renovation,” said Roman Palczewski, head of the County Roads Authority, during Thursday’s meeting. The streets will be thoroughly reconstructed and widened. “All of this will make travelling along this road considerably safer,” emphasized starost Cezary Przybylski.
The renovation will create 75 new parking spaces. New pavements will also be built. The total value of the investment is over PLN 8.1 million. Gmina Miejska will support the renovation with PLN 2 million, while the County will provide the remainder.
When will the work begin? “We should obtain the building permit by the end of the year,” said Cezary Przybylski. If everything goes according to plan, the renovation will begin in spring 2010.
