As part of Week with the Bolesławiec County, the Synkopa 2 choir performed—a source of pride for I Liceum Ogólnokształcące and a delight for the audience. A joy to listen to and to watch this group of young enthusiasts.
The initiative to establish the School Choir “Synkopa 2” arose three years ago among the school’s musically talented young people, mainly thanks to Polish teacher Irmina Nowak and student Julia Gołębiowska. They revived an old high-school tradition. The “Synkopa” choir, led by Bernard Cichorzewski, existed in the 1960s–1980s. (Interestingly, the current choir includes the granddaughter of Professor “Wiolinek”.)
The choir members themselves took responsibility for the musical arrangements, arranging the pieces and developing the repertoire. In their daily lives, they also attend extracurricular music classes at workshops in MDK and BOK-MCC, while Julia Gołębiowska serves as the choir’s “student” supervisor, cooperating in this role with Irmina Nowak.
The current Synkopa 2 choir consists of between 23 and 25 students from all grades. During its three years of activity, the ensemble has greatly expanded its repertoire and stage presence. Today, its performances are vocal shows featuring extensive original choreography.
The choir performs not only for school audiences but also at mass events, in many towns across the region and beyond its borders. Its performances add distinction to municipal and county celebrations, always meeting with great appreciation and admiration.
