A company from Legnica won the tender. Renovation of the historic building will begin on June 8 this year. The total investment is worth almost PLN 7 million. The work is scheduled to be completed next year.
Why did it take so long? “This is not something that costs PLN 5,” explains county head Cezary Przybylski. “The theatre building is listed in the register of historic monuments, so we could not take any shortcuts.”
“The theatre will enable us to create excellent conditions for the development of cultural life,” says Karol Stasik, chairman of the County Council. “For many years, we have dreamed of establishing a theatre troupe: partly professional and partly amateur. The renovation of this historic monument is the first step in that direction.”
“It is a beautiful building, which is why we were so determined to save it,” adds Cezary Przybylski.
The first stage of the renovation will be financed from the funds of Bolesławiec County. Bolesławiec Municipal Commune will support the renovation of the Old Theatre with PLN 50,000, while the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship will allocate PLN 60,000 for this purpose.
