A Reader called us about the Bolesławiec–Chościszowice road, or, to be precise, the section just beyond the railway crossing. An accident occurred there over an April weekend. (We wrote about it in the article: A car overturned near Bolesławiec, two people injured).
The Reader contacted us because he himself overturned at the same spot just under two years ago. In his view, accidents occur so frequently on that bend that protective barriers would be useful there. Especially since the roadside ditch is very deep and when a car ends up in it, the vehicle is practically invisible from the road.
We asked the District Roads Authority for comment. Manager Paweł Bednarski:
Information received from the Police indicates that the direct cause of the road incident described by the reader was failure to adjust speed to the traffic conditions.
Furthermore, in the area of the incident in question (approximately 40 metres earlier), there is a railway crossing whose location requires drivers to reduce their speed in order to cross safely.
What do you think? Is it dangerous or not? We invite you to join the discussion.
