The incident occurred on Monday afternoon. One of the men—a police officer off duty—noticed a vehicle driving onto the curbs. He followed it. At the intersection of Gdańska and Garncarska streets, the drunk driver of a Volkswagen Golf stopped at the traffic lights. The police officer then got out of his car and took the driver's keys. A second man joined him and helped hold the door so that the drunk driver could not escape.

“We waited for the police to arrive. After half an hour, the drunk driver realized that something was happening. He did not even have the strength to answer questions. It is a good thing we caught him, because he could have hurt someone. Children were riding scooters; something really could have happened,” said the man who informed us about the incident.

It turned out that the VW driver was completely drunk, with two per mille of alcohol in his system. The man was detained. The 67-year-old resident of Bolesławiec could now face up to two years in prison.
