Last weekend was exceptionally fast on the roads of Bolesławiec County. Officers from the Traffic Department stopped six drivers while patrolling the roads; they had significantly exceeded the speed limit in a built-up area.

On Saturday, 13 April this year, after 11:00 a.m. in Brzeźnik, officers stopped a 19-year-old woman from Lubań County, and an hour later in Zabłocie, a 34-year-old woman from Nowogrodziec Municipality. On Sunday, 14 April, the first speeding offender was caught after 7:00 a.m. in Trzebień. The 60-year-old resident of Nowa Sól exceeded the speed limit by almost 70 km/h. The next driver stopped was a 23-year-old woman from Lubań County, who was driving at 112 km/h where the limit was 40 km/h.

The next vehicles stopped in connection with exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area were driven by a 35-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County and a 41-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County.

Statistics show that excessive speed is precisely what causes many tragic road incidents. We remind you that, under the applicable regulations, any road user who exceeds the speed limit in a built-up area by at least 50 km/h will lose their driving licence for three months. The document is taken directly by the police officer conducting the inspection. If, despite the ban, the person continues to drive a vehicle, the period of licence confiscation will be extended to six months. If the situation occurs again during that period, the county governor will issue a decision revoking the driving entitlement. This will mean that the person must take the driving test again.
