A year has passed since St. Maria de Mattias was established as the Patron Saint of Bolesławiec. To mark the occasion, anniversary celebrations will be held over three days. Below we present the programme of events:
- Saturday (16 May) at 15:00, Forum Hall: the performance “A Miracle Is Born of True Love”, prepared by Sister Magdalena Karaban ASC (the congregation of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ)
- Sunday (17 May) at 11:30, Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Castle Square): Sister Barbara Makowska ASC will make her perpetual religious profession. The solemn Mass will be presided over by Bishop Marek Mendyk
- Monday (18 May) at 17:30, Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Castle Square): a Mass and the concert “The Great Mass John Paul II” will be held.
The concert “The Great Mass John Paul II” by Austrian composer Gerald Spitzner was composed in 2004. The work was included in the Vatican calendar and was intended to be performed on John Paul II’s 85th birthday. However, the concert was performed for the first time at a basilica in Poznań. The Mass consists of 12 parts. Performers: Grażyna Zielińska – soprano, Krzysztof Starosta – violin, Karol Drynkowski – organ.
