On Wednesday, May 13, the Municipal Public Library invites children to an art workshop led by renowned illustrator Agnieszka Żelewska. Participants will learn how a book is created and what the work of an illustrator involves, and will also have the opportunity to try their hand at illustration. The first group will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the second at 10:30 a.m.
Agnieszka Żelewska graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she earned a degree in book illustration. To date, she has designed and illustrated more than a dozen books for children. She has participated in numerous exhibitions of illustrative works in Poland and abroad. She won the main prize twice in the prestigious “Book of the Year” competition, organized by the Friends of Books for Young People Association—the Polish Section of IBBY. In 2004, she was included on the International Board on Books for Young People Honour List for her illustrations for the book “Fairy Tales About Things and Non-Things” by Zofia Beszczyńska.
