On Friday, Bolesławiec police conducted the “Seat Belts” operation. Officers paid particular attention to whether the driver and passengers were wearing their seat belts and checked whether children were being transported in seats suited to the young passenger’s age, height and weight.

The results of the operation are not encouraging. Officers checked 89 cars. Sixty-five drivers and 15 passengers were travelling without their seat belts fastened.

Police remind drivers: seat belts are the most effective way to ensure safety while driving. Half of those killed in road accidents could have survived if they had been wearing their seat belts at the moment of the collision.
