In the last week of March, the services intervened as many as three times. First, on March 21, a 19-year-old from Bolesławiec decided to take a stroll along the viaduct’s railway tracks. The result? Almost every service was called out. (There was concern that he might be another would-be suicide).
It turned out that this was not a suicide attempt, but… a walk. The teenager was fined PLN 50.
Of course, this was not the first such incident. The following day, at around 5:30 p.m., another person was walking on the viaduct. The police received another report of this kind, but when the officers arrived, the walker was already gone.
What is more, on Sunday, March 24, after 9 p.m., a man called the emergency number and reported that his friend wanted to jump from the viaduct.
Within a few minutes, firefighters, police officers and paramedics were already at the scene. It turned out that the young man had climbed down from the viaduct on his own. He explained that he had only wanted to take a look.
Watch the entire operation recorded by our camera, which shows the railway viaduct every day.
Officers appeal: let’s not treat the viaduct as a viewing terrace.
Let us recall. In July last year, we reported that the municipal monitoring operator had observed two young people on the railway tracks on the Bolesławiec viaduct. The individuals, as if nothing unusual were happening, were strolling along the tracks toward Ceramiczna Street.
A Municipal Police patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene. The officers observed that, as a maintenance vehicle passed, the young people lay down beside the barrier separating the railway tracks from the viaduct ramp.
When the walkers noticed the officers, they began fleeing toward Dolne Młyny. The pair was apprehended and fined.
Municipal Police officers:
Although we have repeatedly written about the danger faced by people who enter the railway viaduct despite the prohibition, incidents of this kind continue to occur.
What penalty is there for walking on the viaduct?
Bolesławiec Municipal Police once again reminds everyone that entering the viaduct is dangerous. What is more, it carries a fine of up to PLN 500.
