On Saturday, 9 May, a Red Cross festival was held in the municipal park on Tyrankiewiczów Street. One of the most important events of Saturday’s celebration was the 16th First Aid Championship for Secondary Schools, in which ten teams took part, including one from Bautzen. The team representing the Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych won first place. The team from Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych came second, while the team from I LO took third place.
To mark the 90th anniversary of the Polish Red Cross, a street race was held on Saturday. Thirty-nine people took part. The best in their categories were Magdalena Wilczyńska and Rafał Jamróz.
Bolesławiec residents showed great interest in the rescue operation conducted by the County Fire Service, the Emergency Medical Service and the PCK Medical Rescue Group. Using specialist equipment, firefighters from Bolesławiec cut open a Toyota and pulled out the victims of a simulated road accident.
The police stand also attracted attention. Officers presented equipment used in their daily service and handed out information leaflets. The youngest visitors could enjoy coloring books and crossword puzzles about road safety. They could also sit in a police car. Meanwhile, thanks to the Association of the 62nd Special Company “Commando,” Bolesławiec residents had the opportunity, among other things, to shoot ASG weapons.
There were also plenty of artistic attractions. That day, visitors could watch a capoeira performance by the group trained by Maluco da Favela, as well as a fire show by the “Chimera” Fire Dancers Theatre. In addition, the amphitheater stage featured, among others, the Paulina & Paulina duo, the Jutrzenka band, the Tierra Flamenca dance group, and Mariusz Kozłowski with the Versus band. The evening’s headline act was the Pireus group.
