The main organizer of the Olympiad is the University of Gdańsk, and the contestants are competing for a place at this distinguished university. The event was held at Bolesławiec’s “Handlówka” for a good reason: as many as ten of its students qualified for the Lower Silesian final.

More than 6,000 students from across Poland took part in the Olympiad’s qualifying rounds. Around 650 reached the provincial finals. Thirty-seven people reached the Lower Silesian final. This group includes as many as ten students from the Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych. That is why the University of Gdańsk proposed organizing the provincial final in Bolesławiec.

Michał Żąda , a researcher at the University of Gdańsk, supervised the proper course of the competition. The test contained 25 questions, and participants had 50 minutes to complete it. An additional difficulty was the test’s open format: each question had six answer options. All the answers could be correct, or none of them.

After the provincial final, those who qualify will advance to the national stage, which will take place on April 5 in Sopot. The stakes are high. The winners will receive University of Gdańsk student IDs.

“Freight forwarding and logistics have been extremely popular since the first recruitment,” says Wiesław Stefanik, the school’s headmaster. “We have two candidates for every place. It is a very attractive profession. It is difficult to imagine any company without logistics specialists. It is also a well-paid profession. If someone is well prepared for it, they can find employment and earn a satisfactory salary immediately after leaving school.”

The school has participated in the Olympiad since its inception, and its students have made it to the national-level finals every time.

The tests were taken to Gdańsk, where the committee will evaluate them.
