Officers from the Economic Crime Unit of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters caught a 47-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County suspected of trading in illegal goods red-handed.
As a result of operational activities, the officers witnessed a customer leaving a legal tobacco-products store with a shopping bag. Their suspicions were confirmed: the Bolesławiec resident had just bought one kilogram of tobacco without Polish excise-duty markings.
It turned out that the illegal goods had been sold to the Bolesławiec resident by a 47-year-old woman from Zgorzelec County.
During a search of the store, police officers seized another bag of illegal tobacco. They are currently investigating where the seized property came from. (The losses to the State Treasury are estimated at nearly PLN 1,500.)
The 47-year-old could face up to three years in prison.
