While out walking along the beaver trail, the residents of Bolesławiec noticed an antisemitic inscription on a sign illustrating one of the exercises that can be performed along the trail. At first, the inscription outraged them. They discussed how people hate one another and what foolish and despicable things they do out of hatred. And as they talked, they came up with a very simple idea. They took out tissues and wiped away the hateful words. They wrote to us:

“We realized two things: that the inscription had been made by someone unaware of Poland’s history and lacking respect for themselves, and that as Poles—citizens of this country—who respect other nations and oppose antisemitism and hate speech, we could do something about it. So we scrubbed off the inscription. To the Glory of the Homeland!”

We send our warmest regards to our Readers and thank them for this beautiful, simple gesture.
