The gas pipeline leak was discovered in the afternoon. Gas is escaping from a medium-pressure pipe on Kościuszki Street, near the IBF plant.
– Corrosion and a gas leak were discovered at a weld in the steel medium-pressure gas pipeline. Our teams planned to finish the work by 6:00 p.m., but it turned out that the damage was more serious than it had seemed. Repairs have to wait until morning, when the corroded section will be replaced. Because of the failure, Ceramika Artystyczna partially suspended production for one day.
At present, gas utility workers are trying to reach the valve at Kaczyński Roundabout on Kościuszki Street so they can shut off the gas from the northern pipeline and repair the damaged section near IBF.
