While the problem of bus transport in the Bolesławiec municipality still has not been resolved, local government officials from Lubin and Chocianów are launching free inter-county connections.

The result? A resident of Chocianów will be able, for example, to go fishing in Ścinawa—and completely free of charge. This is the first case of its kind in Poland.

It started with the city

Robert Raczyński, the mayor of Lubin, has been consistently implementing a free public transport project for years. According to municipal officials, the aim is to equalize opportunities—to ensure that free transport is used not only by schoolchildren and seniors, but also by people commuting to work and even students.

For the latter, Lubin local government officials are planning to launch free train journeys in October. (As a result, students from Lubin will not, for example, have to rent accommodation in Wrocław).

Lubin City Hall wants the free transport network to continue expanding. Adam Myrda, head of the Lubin County Board, shares this view and believes that every local government should consider introducing connections of this kind, because they bring people closer together.

Will the network include Bolesławiec?

What is more, according to the Lubin county head, free connections between Bolesławiec and Lubin are... only a matter of time, because residents will force their local authorities to introduce solutions of this kind.
