On Thursday, January 10, the Mystery of Bread, an integration meeting for seniors organized by the Carpe Diem Social Association, was held at the Gallery on Generała Nila Street.

Almost 180 people took part, including members of the Bolesławiec Amazons Club, homeless people supported by the Polish Red Cross (PCK), and members of the Senior Club from Gromadka.

– The aim of our association is to counteract social exclusion due to age, an incurable illness or poverty – says Eugenia Wolska, head of Carpe Diem.

Thursday’s meeting had a thanksgiving character. E. Wolska said: – We should be glad to be living in a country without war; to have daily access to clean water and food.

She added: – Bolesławiec is a city friendly to people in their third age; local government authorities and non-governmental organizations support elderly, sick and homeless people. This is a great achievement, because everyone can find the place they need in the local community. Not every city can boast of this.

The ceremony was enhanced by performances from the Harmonia Community Choir from Nowogrodziec and the Jutrzenka Song and Dance Ensemble.
