With great sorrow and sadness, we share the news of the death of Mr. Krzysztof Sokoliński, a physical education teacher at I Liceum from 1985 to 2008. He was a graduate of our school, to which he returned years later after completing the Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław. It can confidently be said that his work was his passion. He went down in the history of school sports not only as a promoter of physical activity among young people, but also as a coach of girls’ and boys’ volleyball and handball teams. He organized sports camps, including those abroad, ran the “Wigor” School Sports Club, and was an advocate of combining sport with tourism, which was his second passion.

The teams he coached achieved championship results at the provincial level, for which he was awarded many times, including with the Education Superintendent’s Award. Krzysztof Sokoliński was an exceptionally active teacher, as well as a committed sports activist in the city.

What particularly distinguished his work was his contact with young people. The students valued him for his professionalism and commitment, openness, sense of humor and great kindness. He was a friend to the students, and they reciprocated his affection by trusting him and building warm relationships. This is how generations of I Liceum graduates remember him.

Among the teachers, he was valued for his kindness, sense of humor and directness in his interactions. Even after retiring, he accompanied school trips, making use of his excellent knowledge of German and his extensive knowledge of the history and culture of the region.

The school principal, teaching staff and school community extend their condolences to the family of Mr. Krzysztof Sokoliński.

The final farewell will take place at the Municipal Cemetery in Bolesławiec on Friday, January 4, at 11 a.m.
