The Bezpieczny Bolesławiec programme received funding from the government programme for reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, “Razem bezpieczniej” named after Władysław Stasiak, for 2018–2020.
The first competition was dedicated to pupils in grades I–III of primary schools and involved creating an artwork illustrating, through its message, “A Safe Route to School Throughout the School Year”.
Around 140 works were submitted to the competition. They were assessed by a jury consisting of employees of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police and the Orzeł CIK. As a result, 12 winning works were selected—three in each age category; three works received distinctions. The winners’ drawings adorn calendars prepared for 2019, which will be distributed both to educational institutions and to other units.
In the grade I classification, first place went to Zuzanna Zaręba from Primary School No. 1, while Jakub Pawełek from Primary School No. 2 took second place; Blanka Kleszcz from Primary School No. 1 came third. Laura Cidyło from Primary School No. 1 received a distinction.
In the grade II classification, first place went to Sebastian Przybylski from Primary School No. 1. The next places went to Filip Tałanda from Oxpress Private Primary School and Patrick Wetrykusz from Primary School No. 1. Julia Kozarska from Oxpress Private Primary School received a distinction.

The second competition, a film competition, was intended for pupils in grades VII and VIII of primary schools. The pupils were invited to present the issue of hate speech in today’s world. A large number of works were submitted to the film competition entitled “When You Hate the World, You Gain Nothing”; after preliminary verification, 12 films were selected. At the next stage, six films were chosen and presented at the official competition ceremony.
The winning film was “Wizja” by Maja Rutkowska, Anna Mularczyk and Magdalena Kędzierska from Primary School No. 5 in Bolesławiec. The jury also awarded second and third places, which went respectively to: Julia Smolarek, Jan and Mikołaj Krupa from Primary School No. 5 in Bolesławiec for the film “Clothes Do Not Make the Man”, and Katarzyna Mróz, Michalina Roman and Anna Sadczuk from the Public Primary School of the Piarist Order for the film “Is It Worth It?”.
Pupils from Primary School No. 4 received a distinction for the film “When You Hate the World, You Gain Nothing” (the team consisted of: Dawid Gromada, Kacper Sobko and Kacper Chlastawa). The film also won the audience’s favour, with viewers rating it the best.
The activities described above were supported by the Mayor of Bolesławiec, who placed the entire Bezpieczny Bolesławiec project under his honorary patronage. In addition, substantive support was provided by employees of the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre.
