As reported on his Facebook profile by the mayor of Nowogrodziec, Robert Relich:

At the request of Michał Sudoł, Chairman of the “Effective and Together” Councillors’ Club, and the other club members—Krzysztof Durda, Brygida Folęga, Łukasz Konrad Izydorczyk, Tadeusz Karasiewicz, Artur Kozioł, Mirosław Mielnik, Mariusz Miler and Kamil Różnicki—the vote adopted an amendment reducing the current remuneration of the Mayor of Nowogrodziec.

Here is the justification for the amendment:

On behalf of the EFFECTIVE AND TOGETHER councillors’ club, I would like to present our position on the resolution establishing the amount of the mayor’s remuneration in Nowogrodziec.

The results of the latest elections proved to be a yellow card for the mayor’s actions and a red card for some councillors from the previous term. We believe there are many reasons for the residents’ decision; these include, among other things, problems completing key investments [podkreślenia – red.], as well as the question of whether they are absolutely necessary at the current stage of development of the Gmina and City of Nowogrodziec. In addition, this is compounded by years of neglect in the construction of road infrastructure, which is a serious burden for many residents of our gmina. Another problem is poor communication with the public—it might seem that greater emphasis is placed on promotion outside Nowogrodziec than among those who live in this gmina. These shortcomings concern both information about the activities of the gmina office and such important matters as the finances of the gmina and its budgetary units, including the commercial company Hydrotech.

According to the councillors associated with the “Effective and Together” club, one solution that would improve the transparency of public life in the Gmina of Nowogrodziec would be an independent external audit of the gmina’s financial operations. Such solutions are successfully used by many gminas in Poland [...]

We also call on the Mayor to plan funds in next year’s budget for at least preliminary work on building community centres in Parzyce and Gościszów. This was a pre-election promise. Residents of these villages are waiting for action in this direction […].

Since June this year, Robert Relich’s remuneration has consisted of the following components:

  • a basic salary of PLN 4,800.00 per month
  • a functional allowance of PLN 2,100.00 per month
  • a special allowance amounting to 40% of the basic salary and functional allowance per month
  • a seniority allowance amounting to 20% of the basic salary per month.

In December, the councillors reduced the special allowance to 30% of the basic salary and functional allowance per month, which in practice means that the incumbent mayor will now earn PLN 690 less. (That is, just under PLN 10,000 gross.)
