The 2018 OPPA International Bard Festival began in Warsaw on November 17 with a songwriter competition, in which Zosia Kołodziej took part. When the talented young woman from Bolesławiec sent her own songs to the festival, she did not believe at all that she would qualify for the semifinals in Warsaw.
She set out on the journey with her parents, and upon arrival it turned out that she was the youngest participant in the competition’s 36-year history. The semifinals took place on Saturday. In the first part, new contestants and participants invited from previous years were heard, with the winners advancing to compete onstage against laureates from previous editions. The standard was very high. The young woman from Bolesławiec particularly liked the festival’s concept, which emphasizes original work and originality.
“I received a distinction, but above all I met wonderful, unconventional, creative and sensitive people,” says Zosia. “I recorded my first EP and gained more confidence in what I do.”
We warmly congratulate the talented young woman from Bolesławiec.
