The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 13, at approximately 9:15 a.m., in Czerwona Woda (Węgliniec gmina, Zgorzelec County). As reported by zgorzelec.info, the 72-year-old driver of a Daewoo Lanos, a resident of Zgorzelec County, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Mazda carrying five people.
The Lanos driver died at the scene. The five people in the Mazda were injured. One of them was airlifted by the Polish Medical Air Rescue Service to Legnica; the others were taken to hospitals, including the one in Bolesławiec.
The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes of the tragedy.
