Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received a report that in Szczytnica (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality), the owner of a retail outlet had been attacked with an axe.
At the scene, the officers determined that the victim had been attacked with an axe by a man while he was closing the shop.
The likely reason for the attack? Moments earlier, the owner had ordered the aggressor out of his shop because he had lit a cigarette inside.
The attacked man was taken to hospital with a cut wound to his lower leg, while several police officers immediately set out to identify and apprehend the attacker based on his description.
One patrol spotted a man who began running away when he saw the police car. After a foot chase, the 30-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality was arrested.
The suspect was aggressive. He has already been charged. It also came to light that another proceeding is already pending against the man in connection with criminal threats that the 30-year-old made against a Bolesławiec resident in August this year.
The court remanded the attacker in temporary custody for three months. The man who ran around with an axe could now face up to five years in prison.
