One of the items on the agenda of the September session of the Bolesławiec City Council will be a vote on draft resolutions concerning the award of the title “Deserving of the City of Bolesławiec” to two Bolesławiec associations:

  • Towarzystwu Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich
  • Stowarzyszeniu Reemigrantów z Bośni, ich Potomków oraz Przyjaciół.

The justifications for both documents state:

For many years, Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich in Bolesławiec has promoted cooperation between the residents of Bolesławiec, Poles in the Eastern Borderlands and the people of Ukraine. The association’s work as part of the “Save Your Great-Grandfather’s Grave from Oblivion” campaign deserves great recognition. The campaign enables young people from Bolesławiec to discover the Polish presence in the Eastern Borderlands, while young people from that region learn about Bolesławiec, particularly its history and culture.

Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich in Bolesławiec provides comprehensive assistance to people from the Eastern Borderlands, promotes the history of Poland and fosters patriotic attitudes among the inhabitants of the Borderlands.

Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich in Bolesławiec contributed to establishing cooperation and subsequently signing a partnership agreement between Bolesławiec and Zbarazh.

For years, Stowarzyszenie Reemigrantów z Bośni, ich Potomków oraz Przyjaciół, based in Bolesławiec, has been involved in restoring the memory of the ancestors of Bolesławiec residents who lived in Bosnia.

The association initiated the campaign carried out as part of the “Save from Oblivion ... Polish Cemeteries of Derventa and Gradiška in Bosnia” programme. Its aim is to care for the burial places of Poles in Bosnia.

It promotes the ideas of regionalism and co-organises numerous cultural events promoting the history and culture of the people of Bolesławiec. The association’s activities help strengthen the partnership between Bolesławiec and Prnjavor.
