Introducing free public transport within the city is another element of improving air quality by limiting low emissions. The same applies to the implementation of the project “Purchase of low-emission bus fleet for public transport in Bolesławiec,” which received funding from the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2014–2020.

The Bolesławiec City Hall allocated more than PLN 12 million for the task. Bolesławiec received more than PLN 8 million from the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2014–2020. Thanks to the funding, MZK Bolesławiec acquired 13 modern Solaris Urbino 10 buses.

Currently, MZK has 21 Solaris buses that meet the highest technical standards.

It is worth recalling that the introduction of free public transport was preceded by adjustments to routes and the timetable. Minor changes were made to the arrangement of bus stops.

One noticeable change is that MZK Bolesławiec no longer travels beyond Bolesławiec’s administrative boundaries, for example to neighboring localities, because free public transport within Bolesławiec is financed with money from the city’s taxpayers, that is, Bolesławiec residents—other municipalities do not contribute to the costs.

However, all MZK bus passengers can use it within Bolesławiec—both residents and visitors, such as tourists.
