On Wednesday (25 March), a ceremonial gala marking the 10th anniversary of Bolesławiec County was held in the Forum hall. The gathered guests were welcomed by the Bolesławiec County Starost and Chairman of the Convention of Counties of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Cezary Przybylski and the Chairman of the Bolesławiec County Council Karol Stasik. “This decade is a milestone in developing the shared identity of the supra-municipal community living in Bolesławiec, Bolesławiec rural municipality, Gromadka, Nowogrodziec, Osiecznica and Warta Bolesławiecka,” Starost Cezary Przybylski said in his welcoming speech.

Among the guests invited to the ceremonial gala were, among others: Lower Silesian Voivode Rafał Jurkowlaniec and Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Marek Łapiński, the mayor of Bolesławiec, county councillors from three terms, representatives of the county authorities, representatives of neighbouring counties, representatives of neighbouring municipalities, and many other people cooperating with the county.

Among the guests invited to the gala there was also someone for whom 10 years represented his entire life so far. Radek Jagodziński from Godzieszów was born on 1 January 1999 at the county hospital on Jeleniogórska Street in Bolesławiec. The ten-year-old is the first resident of Bolesławiec County. The boy received wishes and gifts from Starost Cezary Przybylski and from the Chairman of the County Council, Karol Stasik. Radek says that he has his birthday on the coolest day of the year and is the strongest in his class. He also seriously claims that he will become a PE teacher, while his dream secondary school is one where he can conduct various experiments.

Later in the gala, those gathered listened to a lecture and watched a documentary about the establishment and achievements of Bolesławiec County. Dr Helena Babiuch, a lecturer at the Witelon State University of Applied Sciences in Legnica, explained how the county developed as an administrative unit from the Middle Ages to modern times. The gala guests could also view an exhibition of works by participants in county competitions.

The Bolesławiec County Starost and Deputy Starost Stanisław Chwojnicki presented awards to councillors and to people, services, institutions and companies cooperating with Bolesławiec County. Commemorative plaques were received by: Józef Burniak, Piotr Roman, Kazimierz Gawron, Dariusz Pawliszczy, Tomasz Gabrysiak, Tadeusz Gąsiorowski, Mirosław Haniszewski, Waldemar Nalazek, Edward Szczerbień and Robert Relich. Special recognition went to councillor Jadwiga Bobek for organising a food bank in the county for residents in need. Students who won competitions organised to mark the county’s 10th anniversary were also awarded.

Lower Silesian Voivode Rafał Jurkowlaniec and Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Marek Łapiński received special thanks for their cooperation. Both men conveyed their best wishes to the people of Bolesławiec.
