Soundbars are the simplest way to watch films, series, concerts or simply television with good-quality sound in an age of increasingly flat televisions, which often cannot accommodate speakers of suitable quality. We take a look at Samsung’s range of soundbars.
Samsung HW J355
This is an inexpensive 2.1-channel soundbar with a continuous power output of 120 W (RMS), equipped with a passive wired subwoofer. Although it is a basic model, it includes Sound Connect technology, enabling a wireless connection with selected Samsung television models. Samsung HW J355 can be controlled using a dedicated application compatible with Samsung smartphones. Users of the Samsung HW J355 soundbar have four operating modes at their disposal: music, voice, sports and cinema. The Samsung HW J355 can be wall-mounted using the mount included in the set.
SAMSUNG HW-K360
This somewhat higher-end model among Samsung soundbars offers 130 W of output power (RMS), an active wireless subwoofer and Surround Sound Expansion technology, which creates a surround-sound effect, as if there were more speakers in the room than there actually are.
SAMSUNG HW-M550
Unlike its more economical counterparts described above, this is a 3.1-channel soundbar. This means that an additional center speaker has been placed inside the device, whose sole task is to reproduce dialogue. This makes watching films or series considerably more enjoyable from a sound perspective. Bluetooth technology and the Samsung Audio Remote application are, of course, also available.
SAMSUNG HW-N650
Soundbars with full support for six-channel soundtracks are already a somewhat more advanced proposition. This Samsung model supports 5.1 sound, although it is not equipped with additional rear surround speakers. The set consists of a soundbar and a subwoofer. The soundbar is equipped with eight speakers which, thanks to Samsung’s technologies, are intended to create the impression of using more sound sources than there actually are. Acoustic Beam technology is one of the elements responsible for this. The HW-N650 is intended to be well suited to amplifying game audio from a console thanks to appropriate sound optimization.
SAMSUNG HW-MS651
The built-in subwoofer is an advantage of this device—a proposition for people who do not want an additional item in their living room. Like the model described above, the HW-MS651 is equipped with an additional center speaker. The 3.1-channel set uses Distortion Cancelling technology to eliminate distortion. The soundbar can be attached to a Samsung television, meaning there is no need to drill holes in the wall.
SAMSUNG HW-M4500
A 3.1-channel soundbar that, thanks to its shape, is an excellent complement to the Korean manufacturer’s curved televisions. It includes a wireless subwoofer, Bluetooth connectivity and support for Sound Connect technology.
