On Wednesday, August 1, at 5:00 p.m., as part of a province-wide warning and public alert exercise, warning sirens will be activated throughout the county.
The acoustic signal will also serve to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising.
The Warsaw Uprising was the largest armed action by the Polish underground against the German occupier. During the 63 days of fighting, 18,000 insurgents went missing, were killed in combat or murdered, while civilian casualties amounted to approximately 180,000 people.
