On Monday (16 July), during the provincial “Dangerous Promiles” operation, officers from the Road Traffic Department of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec stopped an intoxicated truck driver. Shortly after 8 a.m., a traffic patrol stopped a truck with a tanker to check the driver’s sobriety. The test showed that the 53-year-old resident of Opole was driving while intoxicated. According to the officers’ findings, the tanker had been stopped several hundred meters from the unloading site. The 53-year-old, driving the truck, was planning to travel back to the company base, where he is employed. He was stopped at a roundabout with an exit to the A4 motorway. The Opole resident had more than 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his breath. He claimed it was residual alcohol from beer he had drunk the previous day.
He will now face court for driving while intoxicated. He could be sentenced to up to 2 years in prison and lose his driving licence.
