Blues nad Bobrem returns to Bolesławiec! The finale... only next year

Blues fans, are you ready?

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, take others with you.” These words became our guiding principle in connection with the decisions concerning the Festival’s future. Here they are:

• Blues nad Bobrem is returning to Bolesławiec!!! Officially, formally and for years to come! On 28 June 2018, we signed an agreement with the City of Bolesławiec, under which both parties undertook to work on the development of the Blues nad Bobrem Festival as a permanent element of the cultural life of the city of Bolesławiec.
• The partnerships, both with the City of Bolesławiec and with the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre, are of fundamental importance to us. Have we already mentioned that we want to organize one of the best blues festivals in Poland? We will do it together—with you and with the festival’s long-standing partners: Laboga Amps, Silesia Music Center and FX-Music Group. Dear friends, thank you for years of fruitful cooperation—we keep playing!
• Blues chords will ring out over the Bóbr—from the very beginning, we knew that the Festival’s return to Bolesławiec could take place in only one location. The boulevard along the Bóbr, the source, the beginning, THAT atmosphere! Not an amphitheatre, admittedly, but the MOSiR stadium, because there will be a lot of us! Yes, we have the ambition to fill the entire stadium! We invite you today to the idyllic Bóbr. It will be beautiful!
• Workshops with the country’s best musicians—we are counting on your help here! In mid-September, we will announce an outline of the workshop plans for 2019. We want to hear from you! We want to learn your opinions about what worked and what you would like to improve. The workshops will be tailored to your needs—you will determine the dimensions. We will take care of inviting the best musicians and providing the facilities; you reserve the dates in your calendars and come!
• Remember the dates! Blues nad Bobrem 2019 will take place from 22 to 28 July. The great return of the Blues nad Bobrem Festival to Bolesławiec: let’s begin! There is a great deal of work ahead of us. Talks with artists are already under way! We can reveal that the heart of the 2019 festival will beat around the 25th anniversary of the death of one of the most colourful figures on the Polish blues scene—Ryśka Riedla. We want to honour Rysiek, remember him and commemorate him—through music, but also through other artistic forms. Do you like street art?? You will have the opportunity to admire it in our city. We will change the panorama of Bolesławiec forever.

To everyone disappointed by the lack of BnB in 2018: dear friends, it was not an easy decision, but we are convinced it was the right one. We concluded that Blues’s return to Bolesławiec is an opportunity we cannot waste. We aspire to organize an event of the highest standard, and that requires time. We have already begun work on the 2019 edition, because these preparations involve not only the logistical organization of the festival, but above all cooperation with partners, the activities of the BnB Association, obtaining funding and many other aspects. We are doing it for you!

That is what all these efforts, reflections and preparations are for. In this way, we express our respect for you, for this Festival, its beautiful history and the people who worked for its success over the years. For your memories and ours! We face a huge, twofold responsibility: to bring these memories back to life and to introduce the Blues nad Bobrem Festival to new generations of Bolesławiec residents. Because we know that a festival is people. Together, we will put Bolesławiec back on Poland’s musical map.
