“One Breast, Not One of Them” is an artistic project intended to show how Polish female artists (including Magdalena Gawęda, Agnieszka Kłos, Dana Puciłowska, Daria Filipowicz, Ewa Szymczyk, Ilona Weiss, Matylda Pachowicz and Izabela Lechowicz) perceive young breast cancer survivors; how “those with two” look at “those with one”. The exhibition presents the beauty of a woman—as a mother, wife, lover, friend, sister and, above all, as a human being.

Dorota Kiałka and Agnieszka Kłos, the exhibition’s creators, have collected 16 photographs depicting Poland’s youngest breast cancer survivors (none of them was over 34 years old). The exhibition will open on 20 March at 6:00 p.m. in the Długa Gallery at BOK.

Photo author: Ewa Szymczyk

During the opening, visitors will be able to buy the “One Breast, Not One of Them” calendar, which—in addition to photographs—contains information about preventive examinations and a foreword by Dr Roman Czarnecki, an oncological surgeon from the Regional Specialist Hospital in Wrocław. Proceeds from calendar sales will be used to support the rehabilitation of the youngest breast cancer survivors.
