We invite you to CIK Orzeł for the seventh event in the “Comedy Without Borders” project. This time, we have prepared films somewhat newer than the cult classics from the 1970s and 1980s, but that does not mean they are any less funny or recognizable. On Saturday, 16 June, we will screen the Czech “Holidaymakers” and the Polish film “Boys Don’t Cry.” Our guest will be one of the actors who played the gangster Bolec in “Boys…” – Michał Milowicz.
Unfortunately, this will already be the final event in the “Comedy Without Borders – Polish-Czech Film Meetings” project. As part of it, in addition to screenings of cult Polish and Czech comedies, our city was visited by well-known Polish actors and satirists, including Zenon Laskowik, Joanna Kołaczkowska, Tamara Arciuch and Jacek Fedorowicz.
This time, the invited guest will be an actor known mainly for outstanding supporting performances – Michał Milowicz, a composer and singer, but above all a theatre actor. He mainly performs on the stages of musical theatres (Teatr Studio Buffo, Teatr Rampa, Teatr Komedia). He gained great popularity through roles in such cinema hits as “Kiler-ów 2-óch” (1999), “Boys Don’t Cry” (2000) and “Morning Coyote” (2001).
“Holidaymakers” (2006), dir. Jiří Vejdělek. A hilarious film about a group of Czech holidaymakers travelling to the Adriatic for a week-long vacation. It features a mixture of diverse human types and characters, including a sharp-witted woman who takes her touchy parents on holiday; a mediocre pop starlet; a homosexual couple; teenage sex bombs; and an enthusiast of science-fiction literature. Numerous complications and minor adventures mean that not everything on this trip goes according to plan. In the year of its premiere, the film attracted more than one million viewers to Czech cinemas!
“Boys Don’t Cry” (2000), dir. Olaf Lubaszenko. The film is so familiar to Polish viewers that it needs no further introduction. A classic comedy of errors: two friends, violinist Kuba (Maciej Stuhr) and Oskar (Wojciech Klata), are accidentally drawn into a gangster affair (in one of the “gangster” roles, the excellent Michał Milowicz plays Bolec). Those who have not seen it should definitely do so; those who know it are invited to enjoy it again.
You are warmly invited to CIK Orzeł – admission to the films and meetings is free! Applications can be submitted via www.komediabezgranic.eu or by telephone: 75 644 5593.
