A special concert took place on Sunday, 8 March, in the auditorium of the Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury. To mark Women’s Day, the institution’s students prepared 12 songs. – We presented a completely new repertoire. We had never performed these songs publicly before, says Marek Łętowski, an MDK teacher.
The young vocalists performed songs from the repertoires of, among others, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Maryla Rodowicz and Grażyna Łobaszewska. A pleasant surprise for the ladies was a performance by Karol Lisiecki and Maciej Cierniak, who sang their own version of the song “Sex appeal”, popularised by pre-war film star Eugeniusz Bodo.
Anna Lijewska, a professional vocalist, made a guest appearance during Sunday’s concert and performed a song from the musical “Romeo and Juliet”. – Ania is always very willing to perform at the MDK, Łętowski emphasises. – Every opportunity is good for presenting such people and showing how much talent they have.
That evening, female vocalists from the already well-known Bożena Out Of Town group also performed. – The girls did a great job, says the MDK teacher. – Singing gives them a great deal of pleasure. They prepare very carefully for their performances, he adds.
For the first time, the young vocalists were accompanied by a trio consisting of: Marek Łętowski (keyboard), Marcin Sarkowicz (bass guitar) and Leszek Krawczewski (drums).
