The duty officer of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec was notified that a shop window had been smashed in one of the city’s stores. An operational patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene. Criminal investigators from Zgorzelec detained a man suspected of damaging property. The 31-year-old’s hand was bleeding.

During the detention, it turned out that the vandal was on furlough from a correctional facility. Fearing the consequences of his actions and a harsher sentence, the detainee became increasingly aggressive and began insulting police officers.

The officers provided him with the necessary medical assistance and called an ambulance to the scene. After his wound was dressed, the man was taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters, where he was formally charged.

The 31-year-old could now additionally face up to 7.5 years in prison.
