ZPP experts issue evaluations according to numerous criteria grouped into ten thematic categories, such as:

  • pro-investment and pro-development activities;
  • solutions improving the quality of resident services and the functioning of the local government unit;
  • development of the information society;
  • development of civil society;
  • strengthening information security management systems;
  • promotion of healthcare and social assistance solutions;
  • supporting activities for the market economy;
  • promotion of eco-energy and environmentally friendly solutions;
  • national and international cooperation;
  • promotional activities.

The order of the recognized local governments on the list depends on their results and the activities they have carried out. Winners are selected in the following categories:

  • counties with up to 60,000 residents;
  • counties with 60,000 to 120,000 residents;
  • counties with more than 120,000 residents;
  • cities with county rights;
  • urban and urban-rural municipalities
  • rural municipalities.

The ranking is continuously updated online by experts throughout the year.

In the summary of the 2017 competition, Bolesławiec ranked first in the category of urban and urban-rural municipalities. In addition, Bolesławiec received the prestigious title “Good Polish Local Government”. The distinction awarded to Bolesławiec was accepted by the city’s president, Piotr Roman.

This year, Bolesławiec was also among the winners of the 2017 National Renewable Energy Ranking. Bolesławiec was awarded a diploma for taking second place in the category of urban and urban-rural municipalities. The ZPP National Renewable Energy Ranking is based on the principle of free and voluntary participation by all municipal- and county-level local governments. It is the only initiative of its kind in Poland, managed continuously online by experts.
